Ballarat woman Kobie Parfitt is believed to have been killed inside a house searched by police and forensic experts this week.

Officers swarmed the Hickman St rental property amid an escalating investigation into Ms Parfitt’s disappearance and suspected murder eight months ago.

The warrant was carried out on Tuesday night in hours of darkness.

This is likely to have been because of the need to use Luminol, a chemical which illuminates blood stains and spatters.

It is best used in complete darkness.

Investigators have been unable to find Ms Parfitt’s body but locating traces of blood and identifying a murder scene would be a vital piece of evidence.

They believe multiple people know the truth of what happened to her before she vanished on April 28.

Her phone and bank account have not been used since that date.

Missing persons squad detectives say they have received new information in recent weeks which has given their inquiry fresh impetus.

Ms Parfitt’s life unravelled some years ago when she drifted into a “bad crew” of criminals and heavy drug users.

Some of those in her world were violent local figures enmeshed in methamphetamines and other offending.

“They’re doing whatever they can to pay for it (drugs). Things caught up with her,” a source said.

Ms Parfitt’s mother Kathy Snowball spoke recently of her family’s nightmare and of a daughter who was a “beautiful person who lost her way.”

Detectives have been in Ballarat in recent weeks looking for more evidence of what happened to the 43-year-old mother-of-four.

They have spoken to those who knew her and worked to narrow down her final movements in the period before April 28.

Sources close to the investigation say they know what happened to Ms Parfitt and who was responsible.

“It’s only a matter of time before there are charges,” the source said.
