Detectives are closing in on the killer of 2.1m tall murder victim Jarrad Lovison, whose body was found dumped in bushland in Victoria’s high country in May.

The grisly discovery of Mr Lovison’s body in Moondarra, 160km east of Melbourne, came five weeks after he was last seen in Newborough on April 15, the same suburb he lived in.

In what is a key breakthrough in the suspicious case, police now believe the 37-year-old was last seen alive with his green bicycle on the Moe-Walhalla Road in the early hours of April 16.

Detectives have followed up a number of leads including the sighting of his distinctive bike which was last seen propped against a tree on Becks Bridge Road just north of Adam View Court about 2.30pm on April 18.

A suspicious white wagon stopped about two hours later and picked up the bike, which has not yet been recovered.

The driver of the wagon and any associates may hold the key to the unsolved case.

The missing persons squad will return to Moe this week to pursue further leads and bring the killer to justice.

The Herald Sun understands detectives have spoken to a number of people in relation to Jarrad’s last movements.

Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper of the missing persons squad said police were closing in on the murderer.

“We have returned to the area a number of times as part of this investigation and will continue to return each time we receive new information,” Det Insp Stamper said.

“There absolutely are people in this community who know what happened to Jarrad.

“We are asking anyone with information regarding its current whereabouts, as well as what happened to Jarrad and who is responsible, to speak to police.”

Previously speaking to the Herald Sun, Jarrad’s father John Lovison begged anyone who knew about his son’s whereabouts to come forward to police.

“He went out like a normal day, like he normally did and never came home,” he said.

“He never had a bad bone in his body. So many people love him.

“We want anyone who knows anything to tell police, so we can bring him home.”
