A second person has been charged over the murder of a Melbourne man who was violently killed in an alleged stabbing rampage.

Homicide squad detectives have charged a 36-year-old Melbourne woman with the murder of Nicholas Cameron, who was fatally stabbed at a Sturt Street apartment on July 10.

The woman faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody to next appear on November 30.

Mr Cameron, 39, was an avid Hawthorn supporter who doted on his rescue dog.

Emergency crews were called to the apartment about midnight following reports of a man with multiple stab wounds.

He was treated at the scene but could not be revived.

Stuart Lindsay Heron, from Toolangi, was earlier charged with one count of murder over the fatal assault and fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a brief hearing.

No details of the allegations against him were aired in court but he was remanded in custody to return to court on October 1.

At the time homicide detective Sol Solomon described the alleged attack as “extremely brutal”.
