The latest teen to be arrested over a fatal St Kilda brawl allegedly committed an armed robbery weeks later — all while on bail for other alleged offending.

The youth was 17 years old when he allegedly joined his Original Gangster Killer gang mates in the foreshore fight that led to the stabbing death of Hashim Mohamed on December 4.

Melbourne Magistrates Court heard on Friday that the teen was on bail at the time of the alleged melee, having been charged over three other incidents.

The boy, who has since celebrated his 18th birthday, has also been charged over a terrifying holdup where he allegedly unlawfully imprisoned his victim and wielded a kitchen knife to rob an iPhone from him in Derrimut on Monday.

Police arrested and charged him over both incidents on Thursday.

His identity cannot be revealed due to his age at the time of the St Kilda alleged offending.

He is charged with affray and violent disorder over that incident.

An earlier court heard a fight between two rival youth gangs had led to the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Mr Mohamed.

The Tarneit teen was stabbed with such force that the knife protruded through his chest.

A manhunt has been underway for his killer, with police trawling CCTV footage to try and identify the young men involved.

Nine youth have been charged with affray and unlawful violence, but detectives are yet to charge anyone with Mr Mohamed’s murder.

Normally, child accused would front a children’s court, but magistrate Simon Zebrowski dealt with the teen’s children and adult criminal matters together in the magistrates court on Friday.

The boy’s lawyer told Mr Zebrowski it was his client’s first time in custody and that he would need to see a nurse as he requires a cast on his right arm.

The lawyer explained that the boy suffered a number of broken bones in a car accident in early November.

“Where is his cast?” Mr Zebrowski queried.

It was initially suggested it was at home, before the boy, sitting in the dock, responded: “I had to dump it after the thing at St Kilda.”

“If he needs a cast he should be wearing it,” Mr Zebrowski said.

Court documents allege he used an “offensive weapon”, namely a kitchen knife, during the armed robbery earlier this week, stealing the victim’s phone and driver’s licence.

Among the charges he is facing over that incident include armed robbery, possess a controlled weapon, dishonestly undertake in the retention of stolen goods, unlawful imprisonment, and three counts of committing an indictable offence on bail.

The teen, who will remain on remand behind bars, was also slapped with two personal safety orders preventing him from stalking or going within 5m of two other males.

He will return to court on January 13 to make a bid for bail.
