Porsche driver Richard Pusey goes by pronouns they/them in latest court appearance

Notorious Porsche driver Richard Pusey has asked to be referred to by the pronouns they/them in a bizarre court appearance.

Richard Pusey has told a magistrate he hopes his case makes the front page and that he goes by the pronouns them or they in yet another bizarre court appearance.

Pusey, 44, represented himself as he dialled in from a prison phone to the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with two counts each of using a telecommunications device to menace and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

“My pronouns are they/them,” were the first words Pusey said when the hearing started and Magistrate Cynthia Lynch referred to him as Mr Pusey.

He also asked for her name, before declaring he would be contesting the latest charges.

“Not guilty will be the plea,” Pusey said.

When Ms Lynch asked him to confirm if he intended to plead not guilty, he said: “Absolutely”.

He later questioned why he was before a court when Police Association secretary Wayne Gatt had made an earlier statement saying “justice for people like Richard Pusey is not done in courts”.

“(It) raises the question as to why I am here,” he said.

“If justice isn’t done in court for people like myself, then where is justice done?”

When asked about the media’s requests for court documents, he said: “Just make sure I get front page.”

The Herald Sun revealed earlier this month that Pusey was back behind bars for allegedly posting online an image of a dead police officer from the April 2020 Eastern Freeway crash.

Four officers – Glen Humphris, Kevin King, Lynette Taylor and Joshua Prestney – were killed when a truck ploughed into them in the emergency lane of the freeway, where they had stopped Pusey in his Porsche for speeding.

He has now allegedly posted a photo he took of the tragic scene to an online review for a Melbourne Porsche dealership.

Court documents allege Pusey’s latest crimes include twice using a carriage service “in a manner which a reasonable person would regard as being menacing”.

Staff at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority were allegedly his victims on November 25 last year, before he menaced customers at Porsche Centre Melbourne on February 7.

The Herald Sun found a one-star Google review purporting to be from Richard Pusey, complaining about the warranty process for luxury vehicles that cost in excess of $300,000.

But no photos were attached.

“When you spend $333k-$550k on a car you expect to be able to extend the warranty on the car,” it read.

“Not here at Porsche Centre Melbourne. Not only do they refuse to sell you extended warranty insurance but they also don’t pay out with their Allianz underwritten product.

“The staff are great at selling cars but fail dismally at anything else. Porsche insurance is a dismal product and you’ll find the staff selling and working with it are equivalent to child tamps.”

Pusey made no application for bail and will return to court on March 23.

“Thanks your honour, have a great day,” he said, before the online hearing ended.
