Accused campers killer Greg Lynn was in an “abusive” relationship with his first wife, who died outside their Mount Macedon home in 1999, a Coroner found.

The Herald Sun can reveal new details about the sudden death of Lisa Lynn, the Jetstar pilot’s first wife.

A coronial inquiry, released to the Herald Sun on Tuesday, found Mrs Lynn, 34, was located in a foetal position on the grass outside their family home on October 26, 1999.

She had consumed a lethal amount of drugs and alcohol.

A record of investigation found she and Mr Lynn were estranged at the time and had been in an “ongoing dispute”.

“From the evidence presented, this relationship appeared to be quite abusive,” Coroner Graeme Johnstone found in 2000.

“The events leading up to the deceased being located are unclear, however police located family photo albums open and scattered on the lounge room floor.”

The coronial report did not make any findings that Mr Lynn had any involvement in his first wife’s death.

The report did not make any findings as to the nature, or perpetrator, of the abuse.

It revealed the Lynns’ two sons, aged 3 and 1, were asleep in their bedrooms when their mother’s body was found.

Mrs Lynn had started taking antidepressants in August 1999 — two months prior to her death.

A toxicological analysis found she died with high levels of doxylamine and sertraline in her system. She also had a blood-alcohol level of .21 gram/100ml.

“It would appear that the deceased consumed an amount of alcohol and sleeping tablets prior to being found in her yard,” the documents state.

Coroner Johnstone said it was “unclear whether she intended to take her own life”.

He said no suicides notes were found at the scene, nor were there any other indications she wanted to harm herself.

“Police investigations failed to reveal any suspicious circumstances or the involvement of any other person in the death of Lisa Lynn,” the document stated.

The Herald Sun revealed in November last year that Lisa had died in tragic circumstances.

In the aftermath of Mr Lynn being charged with the Hill-Clay murders, current Caroline Springs neighbours said they knew of her death.

The pair had met as colleagues in the aviation industry.

Friends said she was a vivacious woman.

Mr Lynn, who married again after Lisa’s death, is facing two counts of murder over the deaths of Mr Hill, of Drouin, and Ms Clay, of Pakenham.

They left for a trip to the High Country in March, 2020.

Their campsite was later found abandoned and with fire damage to a tent, furniture and Mr Hill’s Toyota four-wheel-drive.

A breakthrough by missing persons squad detectives emerged last November when they dramatically arrested Mr Lynn in the same High Country area where Mr Hill and Mrs Clay were last seen alive.

Investigators were able to recover their remains days later west of Dargo.

Mr Lynn is on remand over the murder charges.
