Tragic ex-wife of accused murderer Greg Lynn was left ‘heartbroken’

The former wife of high country murders accused Greg Lynn was devoted to her husband until he left her “heartbroken”, friends say, before her sudden death.

The former wife of high country murders accused Greg Lynn has been described as a “truly beautiful” person whose death came out of the blue.

Lisa Lynn died suddenly in 1999 at the Mt Macedon home where she had lived with her husband and their two young children.

“She was one of the most special people I’ve ever met,” a close friend told the Herald Sun. “She was a truly beautiful and amazing person. She was an extremely generous soul. She was a devoted wife. It was picture perfect.”

Mrs Lynn was described as a deeply religious woman who devoted herself to her husband and two sons.

“I have never seen anyone adore a husband the way Lisa adored Greg,” she said.

“She used to call him ‘my darling’.

“He left her when the two boys were young. She was completely heartbroken when he left. She wanted him back but he left her for another woman.”

A former work colleague of Mrs Lynn said there was incredulity at the time from those who knew her that Mrs Lynn had taken her own life.

“No one saw that coming. She was way too strong-willed and loved their kids too much,” she said.

“There were a lot of very emotional people at the time.”

The ex-colleague said Mrs Lynn was an efficient, direct person who was usually a non-drinker.

She said it was a shock when Mrs Lynn was found to be intoxicated when she died.

“She turned up dead with a large amount of pills and vodka in her system,” she said.

A former Ansett Airlines source said Lisa Lynn was a flight attendant with Qantas before she had two sons.

“She was easygoing, very friendly,” he said of Mrs Lynn.

“She was a salt of the earth type – friendly and open with a warm manner. Generally flight attendants are like that.

“It was quite a dark period when she passed. It was very tragic.

“I don’t remember her being a drinker at all.”

The source said Mr Lynn, a pilot, was an experienced bushman who would navigate complicated terrain with compasses and maps.

“He did the Kokoda Trail by himself,” the source said.

“He was quite a bushman. He was fit back in the day and he would do it by himself. He would carry what he needed on his back for extended periods. His bush skills were quite elite.”

Real estate records show the expansive family property at Mt Macedon was last sold in early 2001.

According to Mr Lynn’s LinkedIn profile, which has since been deleted, he then shifted overseas, starting as a Qatar Airways captain in 2002.

He held the job for five years before returning to Melbourne to work as a Jetstar captain in 2007.
