A fourth member of a Cobram family has been charged over a drug trafficking syndicate linked to the Mongols bikie gang.

A fourth member of one Cobram family has been charged over a drug trafficking syndicate linked to the Mongols motorcycle gang.

Matthew Eddy, 21, has been charged with cocaine trafficking as part of an Echo taskforce investigation centred on the Murray River town.

His cousin, alleged Mongols Riverside chapter sergeant-at-arms Joshua Eddy, was arrested in July as part of the same police inquiry.

Also scooped up were Josh’s sister Jaide, 18, and his father David.

Matthew Eddy is also facing a charge of committing an indictable offence while on bail after being arrested earlier this month.

Telephone intercepts of conversations with his cousin Joshua are expected to play a part in the charges against Mr Eddy.

Matthew Eddy has been granted bail in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court and is due to reappear on December 6.

He also faces separate charges laid by Cobram police over allegations of property damage and driving offences.

Previous court hearings have been told 29-year-old Joshua Eddy, who ran a local car detailing business, was the ringleader of a syndicate which included his 52-year-old father.

David was allegedly intercepted on the Cobram-Barooga Bridge in a car with between $100,000 and $150,000 and a loaded gun.

The arrests were part of a lengthy investigation into drug trafficking in the town.

Charged in the same October operation that detained Matthew Eddy were a 28-year-old patched Mongol and an 18-year-old man.

A woman, 70, was arrested as warrants were carried out on homes and storage units.
