COVID conspiracy theorist Eve Black wants charges thrown out

A squawking parrot cut in as a fumbling paralegal appeared in court for COVID conspiracy theorist Eve Black.

Police to ask Eve Black roadblock questions

COVID conspiracy theorist Eve Black recruited a mate without a last name and his loud parrot to have charges against her thrown out of court.

The 28-year-old wanted traffic offences dismissed “due to misleading statements”, claiming there was “zero evidence” for the charges, which were laid during the second wave lockdown.

Black, who shot to fame for a viral checkpoint video on social media, had her car window smashed in during the dramatic Carlton arrest in July when she allegedly failed to provide her details to police.

Dialling into Melbourne Magistrates Court from Brisbane, Black — whose real name is Eugenia Limberiou — told the court her friend “Zev” would be appearing for her.

When asked for his last name, Zev said it was “Secured Party Creditor” — claiming he’d had it changed through “uniform commercial code filings”.

While stating that he wasn’t a lawyer, Zev was interrupted by a loud squawking that sounded through the court.

“Sorry, that’s my parrot,” he said.

Zev, who said he had 20 years of experience in the paralegal area, told the court he was seeking a “plea in abatement” to have the charges dismissed.

“What do you mean a plea in abatement ... that’s not available,” Judicial Registrar Alison Paton responded.

Zev said Black was “listed as a male, which clearly isn’t the case” and that “we don’t have correct paperwork here”.

Ms Paton referred the matter for a summary case conference with police to resolve the paperwork issues.

Zev also called for “this to be kept out of the public” so as not to “tarnish her good name any further” by citing the Privacy Act.

“I can indicate the Privacy Act does not apply to court proceedings,” Ms Paton replied, and granted media access to her charges.

In a summary provided to the court, police said Black “refused to state her name and address and was insistent on recording the interaction on her mobile phone”.

“She was argumentative and uncooperative and wound up the window and locked the door refusing to acknowledge or respond to police requests.”

After police shattered her side window and arrested Black, the summary states that she gave her name and address and was fined $1652 for travelling without a valid reason under stage three restrictions.

The matter will return to court on July 1 — with Black dialling in from Brisbane.
