16-year-old charged over attack on good Samaritan, 70, and teen attacked at Keysborough and Dingley Village
A 16-year-old boy has been charged over separate horrific attacks on an elderly good Samaritan and a teen at a shopping centre in Keysborough and a bus stop in Dingley Village.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged and another teenager arrested following a spate of brutal alleged attacks in Melbourne’s southeast.
Police allege the teens were attempting to steal items from a Chemist Warehouse at the Parkmore Shopping Centre in Keysborough about 5pm on Friday.
A 70-year-old Dandenong North man, who witnessed the theft, tried to stop the teens from leaving the store and was then assaulted by them, police said in a statement on Saturday morning.
He was taken to Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
It is believed the same two teens then approached a 16-year-old boy at a bus stop on Centre Dandenong Rd in Dingley Village at about 7.15pm.
A Facebook commenter on Keysborough’s community forum described arriving at the scene and witnessing the elderly man lying on the ground after the attack.
“We walked in and (an) elderly person appeared unconscious on the ground, surrounded by police and security,” the post said.
“I hope the person is OK, but from what we saw it didn’t look good.”
The Dingley Village boy was assaulted in an unprovoked attack in which he was beaten and stabbed while attempting to flee his assailants.
He was transported to The Alfred hospital with upper and lower body injuries
One local told the Herald Sun their friend had witnessed the aftermath of the brutal assault.
“My friend didn’t witness the stabbing but arrived soon after the incident to see the knife and blood and police and (the) victim sitting at bus stop,” he said.
A 16-year-old boy handed himself into police on Saturday and has since been charged with armed robbery. two counts of intentionally causing injury, shop theft and common law assault.
He has been remanded in custody to face a children’s court on Sunday.
Police have also arrested a 19-year-old Bonbeach man over the incidents.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will be interviewed at a later date.
