COVID sceptic Eve Black on Wednesday had her car window smashed and was arrested when she refused to give police her details.
It was the second clash with the force for Ms Black, who last week uploaded a confrontation with officers at a lockdown checkpoint.
The new incident occurred in Princes Street, Carlton, about 1.55pm.
“She was asked to provide her name and address, which she refused to do,” Victoria Police said.
“Police then directed her to produce her driver’s licence and explain her reason for travel, which she also refused to comply with.
“This led to police arresting her. During the arrest, police were forced to break the woman’s car window as she refused to speak to them, wind down her window, or step out of the vehicle.”
Ms Black, 28, of Warrandyte, was released to be charged on summons with traffic offences, failing to produce her licence, failing to provide her name and address, and breaches of directives from the Chief Health Officer.
Police had been wanting to speak to her after she laughed at officers trying to stop her at Bunyip, east of Melbourne, on July 23.
Ms Black declined to answer police questions at the road barricade.
She then drove off laughing at what just happened while being filmed from the passenger’s seat.
Senior police condemned her actions as “selfish and childish”.
“It was ridiculous. It was unnecessary,” an angry Deputy Commissioner Rick Nugent later said.
Her reaction caused widespread community fury amid a wave of resentment against those defying COVID-19 restrictions.
The arrest comes as an organiser of a “freedom” event at Melbourne’s Shrine on Friday said masks wouldn’t be worn by those who attended.
The Church of United Kingdom of Australia plans to meet at the Shrine for what it describes as a commonwealth of Australia Day event.
Police have warned they will take action over health breaches at the gathering.
UKoA spokesman Brett Robert said police would be committing a “war crime” if they tried to break up the gathering.
He said masks were claustrophobic and “if there’s no harm, there’s no crime”.
Only a small number of people are expected at the event but police say officers will be present and prepared.
Victoria Police said 33 fines had been issued in the 24 hours to Wednesday morning for failing to wear a face covering.
