Melburnians will finally have a burst of summer weather to look forward to as warmer temperatures grace the state. Here’s how the rest of the week will look.

Victorians will finally have a burst of summer weather to look forward to as warmer temperatures grace the state.

Thursday will see mostly sunny conditions with a top of 25C in Melbourne. Friday will climb to 31C with partly cloudy skies.

It comes after incessant rain wreaked havoc across the state earlier this week, with residents in Seymour and Yea told to evacuate over rising floodwaters on Monday.

Christie Johnson from the Bureau of Meteorology said Friday’s top of 31C falls just short of Saturday which has so far been the hottest day of the year, reaching 32.6C.

“Thursday will see lovely conditions, particularly when the clouds clear,” she said.

“The heat will then pick up on Friday, it will be quite humid and sticky.

“However it won’t be as sunny and there is the chance of some showers and thunderstorms in the high country and eastern ranges, not in the Melbourne area.”

Friday night is expected to be stickier due to the higher humidity, reaching an overnight low of 18C.

The temperature then drops back to 23C on Saturday and Sunday.

“Late on Friday we’ll have a southerly change that pushes through much cooler weather,” Ms Johnson said.

“As the cold front moves over from Tasmania there will be the chance of showers in southern Victoria and it will be more cloudy on Saturday and Sunday.”

The balmy weather will continue with Monday and Tuesday currently forecast to reach 29C and 28C respectively in Melbourne, with partly cloudy conditions.

Ms Johnson said it remained uncertain whether Victoria could expect showers and thunderstorms across next week.
