Kid friendly Halloween events in Melbourne
HalloweenFest — Richmond Primary School
Saturday October 27th — 2pm start
There will be no shortage of things to do for the whole family at the Richmond Primary School grounds this Halloween. Kids can enjoy slime making, face painting, ‘blood curdling rides’, and a dance party and much more. For adults, there will be plenty of giveaways as well as a ‘deathly’ silent auction.
HallowSCREAM — Eltham
Wednesday, October 31st — 4pm-8pm
The historic bluestone Montsalvat halls are the perfect setting for a spectacular, family friendly party this October 31st. Kids can listen to spooky-story time in the Chapel, or if that isn’t their thing they can get their hands dirty with slime making in the Great Hall. All ghouls, witches & pumpkins are welcome to join in the costume parade through the grounds. Tickets are available online only.
HOWL-O-Ween Paw Parade
Sunday, 28 October 2018 12pm — 4pm
Halloween shouldn’t just be for us humans because let’s face it, dogs look a million times cuter than us in costumes. Register your pooch online, grab a dog friendly costume, head to Port Melbourne and join in the parade down Rouse street. And if you don’t have a dog, you needn’t worry, there will be plenty of other ‘pawesome’ activities to enjoy.
Yarra Valley Railway Ghost Train
Ghost Train departs Healesville Station Friday 26th and Saturday 27th October.
Little Train of Spooks running on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October.
The Yarra Valley Railway is bringing you two spooktacular events this Halloween.
Ride the Ghost Train if you dare! Or try the family friendly Little Train of Spooks, aimed at pre and primary school aged kids and their families. Online bookings are now open for both events.
Rabbit Hole-Oween — Braybrook
October 30th and 31st.
Behold, Australia’s first sugar-free Halloween event and a little monster dance party. Meet ‘n’ greet Drac and Mavis from Halloween smash Hotel Transylvania plus spooky facepainting.
Spooktacular - Watergardens Town Centre
Thursday October 31st, Noon-5pm. FREE.
Halloween Town is an interactive space with scary performers entertaining visitors as they wait with trepidation to knock on the Spooky Doors and get a scary surprise. Ahhhh. There’s a spooky cemetery, gigantic spiders and a DJ.
Spooktacular Halloween Festival — Dandenong
Saturday 27th of October, 10am-3pm. Free.
STrick or treat treasure hunt, a spooky craft workshop, a wand-making workshop, scary hair makeovers. See roaming characters Bertha the Witch, Peggy Leg, Rory the dinosaur and Chef Monstro being cheeky.
Adult Halloween events in Melbourne
Spooktober — St. Kilda
October 31st — November 4th
Spooktober will be taking over St. Kilda Town Hall again this year. Get your scare on with two haunted house experiences, after dark tours and a trick or treat trail. And when you’re all spooked out you can dig into some tasty eats from some of Melbourne’s best food trucks. Tickets are on sale now.
Halloween Latin Cruise — Docklands
Saturday October 27th — 7pm
A cruise may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Halloween, but this unique event will be the hottest ticket in town. Enjoy some delicious Latin tapas and dance to the hottest salsa music while enjoying the view of the Melbourne skyline as you cruise around the city’s Docklands.
Hauntville Haunted House Halloween Festival — Richmond
October 19th — 21st and October 26th — 28th.
Are you brave enough for a haunted house? Over two weekends in October, the Burnley Circus Park will be hosting three heart-pounding haunted house experiences. (Two for adults and one for children). And if haunted houses aren’t your thing, you can always enjoy a drink or two at the witches cauldron themed bar.Tickets to the haunted houses are available online now.
Night Tour of Melbourne General Cemetery

This Halloween activity isn’t for the faint hearted! An expert host will guide you through the grounds of the Melbourne cemetery after dark, telling tales of history and mystery. Keep an eye out for famous occupants of the grounds, you never know when they’ll jump out at you! Book in quickly, tickets sell like hot cakes.
Sea Life Melbourne’s Sea Life Nights — Halloween Edition
Sea Life, King St CBD — Friday 26th of October, 6pm Tickets $59.
Stingrays are both calm and anxiety inducing. They probably feel the same with these glowing, underwater pumpkins. It’s all for a grown-up Halloween. There’s a band performing in Upper Deck Rainforest, a penguin talk, a croc talk, a live show, a shark talk, Jack the Flipper, murderous mermaids, spooktacular roving performers, live music and zombie bar tenders. There’s even costume judging in the Coral Atoll at the end of the night.
