Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers.
The Block star Scott Cam has laid the sledgehammer into claims he’s leaving the hit show.
Cam made the announcement, alongside The Block co-host Shelley Craft, at a media launch for the show’s 2024 season on Thursday.
Craft, citing a news website report that Cam was calling time on his stellar TV career, urged the beloved TV tradie to tell all.
“That I’m leaving the network?” Cam asked. “Well, I wanted to say, and I have told Shelley this …”
Craft: “Don’t make me cry.”
“Two months ago, unfortunately,” Cam said to quiet gasps in the room, “I signed a multiple year deal with the Nine Network. So to all my friends at the Daily Mail, keep up the good work!
“I love The Block, I love the Nine Network,” Cam added.
“I’ve been there 24 years, and I couldn’t think of going anywhere else. I love this show, and I love everything about the network.”
Later, Cam told The Source his multi-year deal with Nine meant a lot.
“I’ve been loyal to the Nine network, and in return they’ve been loyal to me,” he said. “It warms my heart because it means they’ve got faith in me, and it means they’re willing to take another risk on me, and I’ll work extremely hard for them to repay that favour.”
The new season of The Block premieres on August 6.
