Scott Cam says his scathing criticism of The Block quitters Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull was just “me being me” as he revealed their sudden departure caused chaos on the set in Gisborne.
Cam accused the Sydney couple, who quit after just 48 hours, of being “un-Australian” and “piss-poor” when he spoke at a post Logies brunch.
The show’s host said: “Obviously I wish Joel and Elle success in the future. It’s just that they created a fair bit of chaos for us here in the first 48 hours.
“The show … we put a lot of time and money into the start of our show and then we had to rejig the whole thing … the whole promos had to be re-shot.
“It just was a lot of angst on our part when they just departed the way they did.
“When I say those words, that’s just Scott Cam speaking from the heart.”
Influencer Ferguson and former footballer Patfull walked away after his mother suffered a nasty fall at home in Adelaide.
Cam was joined by Shelley Craft and creator Julian Cress, who said the houses were scheduled to be finished on time and the show would air as scheduled.
Cam said last Monday: “We had a 48-hour challenge to choose the house that you get and they scarpered after 48 hours.
“It’s something that’s never happened before.
“Forty-five thousand people applied to be on The Block and win life-changing money. These guys got on and they just couldn’t handle the pace after 48 hours.
“Which to me is a bit un-Australian! Have a go! It’s piss-poor.”
After their exit, Ferguson shared a photo to Instagram of the pair’s suitcases at Melbourne Airport, and captioned it: “Wherever you are in the world, whatever you are doing, family always comes first.”
