Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers.
Veteran newsreader Mal Walden is not amused by Nine’s handling of its news reshuffle at the weekend.
Walden, a popular journalist whose career spanned six decades, said Nine’s trumpeting of its new weekday co-hosts was disrespectful to much loved anchor Peter Hitchener.
“Would have been far more respectful had Nine’s press release announced Peter Hitchener’s intention to step down at the end of the year instead of promoting his replacements,” Walden wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Nine announced Hitchener would move to weekend presenter while it installed Alicia Loxley and Tom Steinfort as weekday co-hosts.
