The Source: Is ‘major rizz’ in social game key to voters hearts?
There’s no doubt a strong youth-focused social media game is an important part of winning any election. But for the Melbourne Lord Mayor candidates, it can also be a case of giving them enough rope.

Social media can be a fraught business – and it can be a fine line between cool and cringe.
Which brings us to the Instagram adventures of some of the leading contenders campaigning to be the next Melbourne Lord Mayor.
The incumbent Nick Reece caught our attention with a, well, peculiar Instagram post of him swooning over a tram stop. Yes, a new tram stop.
“It’s beautiful. Aesthetic. I love it. With all the mod cons,’’ Reece purred.
Hey, it got 111,000 views but the Source wonders if that’s actually a good thing.
We scrolled a bit further and found Reece’s announcement to convert offices into apartments.
This one had the LM talking along with a split screen showing scenes from that Minecraft game. Yep, that’ll get the kids in.
Then Reece tried his hand at interviewing members of the public to promote his policy for $2 pool entry. This included a slightly awkward exchange with another Nick, who the LM described as “a very well cut young man’’.
Meanwhile, his rival Arron Wood was playing it up to get down with the kids, leaning into some hip jargon – a risky game for a middle-aged dad.
He says Melbourne gives “major rizz” and “stays slaying” and that the current Lord Mayor didn’t understand the assignment … “no cap”.

Stick with what you know, we guess.
