Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers
The mysterious Sorrento brawl which entangled a couple of AFL stars has been the talk of the Range Rover set for the past week.
Melbourne’s Steven May and Richmond’s Dion Prestia were dragged into the headlines over an incident in which two men ended up in hospital after an assault near the swank Continental Hotel.
There’s no evidence either player was involved in what happened and any blows were struck away from CCTV and witnesses.
That and the fact the victims aren’t interested in making a complaint to investigators means the matter isn’t likely to go anywhere.
That might be just as well for a former AFL player believed to have been in the vicinity around the time of the ruckus.
Word reaches The Source that this fellow might be able to “assist with inquiries”, to borrow some quaint police speak.
That’s a good thing for him because he enjoys something of a public profile.
