The Source: Cops tried to arrest a ‘total d--khead’ on Anzac Day. He managed to escape their clutches

In shocking news to no one, there seems to be another fugitive on the run in Melbourne. This time, fit with a shiny new accessory after escaping police while being handcuffed outside the MCG.

Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers

As Australia’s war heroes were being celebrated inside the MCG last Friday, a rather less impressive character was making an almost great escape just outside the hallowed ground.

The “absolute tool”, as one hapless cop described him, managed to break free from officers who were exactly halfway through apprehending him on Anzac Day.

The pest was spotted by an eagle-eyed bystander scarpering up the road with a set of handcuffs dangling from one wrist.

The cuffs clearly did not slow him down as much as the “dozen” chasing officers’ equipment though, as with each stride the escapee advanced further away.

After the puffed police gave up the pursuit, our keen observer asked what had happened.

“He’s a total dickhead,” was the response from the most talkative officer.

But despite the offender’s break for freedom proving relatively simple, extricating the shackle from his wrist would not be so straightforward.

While he is not considered a high-priority fugitive, public-spirited Melburnians should be on the lookout for a man wandering around with a set of handcuffs as jewellery, or a nasty scratch on his wrist.
