DANIEL ANDREWS

GROWING up in Wangaratta, my parents taught me the values that I still live by today.

They believed that everyone should work hard and make a contribution to their community.

And they always taught me to “say what you do, and do what you say”.

It’s something I’ve lived by ever since.

It’s why that from the moment we were given the great honour of forming government – we’ve been getting things done.

Making record investments in our schools and hospitals.

Backing local jobs and skills. Building big in road and rail for our growing state.

For four years, we’ve been delivering on our positive plan for Victoria.

And today, because of that plan, and our work, the results are clear:

We promised to remove 20 dangerous level crossings in our first term and we’ve removed 29.

We’re delivering 70 new schools and upgrading 1300 more.

We ended the ambulance crisis, with response times the best they’ve been for nine years.

Daniel Andrews says he will remove even more level crossings.

The Police Academy is full because we’re recruiting 3135 new police.

We’ll build a new Footscray Hospital, and rebuild Frankston Hospital and Latrobe Valley Hospital, while redeveloping Ballarat Base Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospital.

We’ve introduced free TAFE.

And we’ll deliver 3-year-old kinder for all kids.

Since we were elected, more than 390,000 jobs have been created, with Victoria’s unemployment rate at its lowest in almost a decade.

All while the state is in budget surplus.

But we know there’s more to do.

We’ll build the Suburban Rail Loop.

This new underground rail network will connect our suburbs to jobs, health, universities and TAFEs — and change the way we get around our state.

I won’t be the Premier who finishes this project, but only a Labor Government will start it.

We’ll build the North East Link and Airport Rail Link, and only Labor has a real fast rail plan for our regional cities.

Labor promises to deliver the long-awaited Airport Rail link.

We are connecting people to where they want to go, not telling them where they have to live.

In regional Victoria, we’ve halved payroll tax to the lowest in Australia, and helped more young Victorians buy their first home.

We’re putting solar panels on rooftops to put the power back in your hands — helping families save on average $890 a year.

We’ve taken historic action to prevent family violence.

And we’ll undertake Australia’s first Royal Commission into Mental Health.

We’ll do all this because Victorians deserve a government that makes the big, bold decisions.

Victorians will have a choice when they go to the polls next month.

Between the Liberals, who will cut and close and put the interests of big corporations before Victorian families.

Or a Labor Government with a positive plan to keep delivering for all Victorians.

DANIEL Andrews and Labor have lost control of population growth and Victorians are paying the price with a higher cost of living, longer commutes and frontline police, education and health services cracking under the pressure.

Instead of improving our quality of life, Daniel Andrews has seen it go backward because he has no strategic plan to meet Melbourne’s and Victoria’s future population and economic growth.

Our traffic is in constant gridlock and our commutes just get longer and longer. Trains run late or are cancelled and passengers are jammed into them like sardines in a can.

Crime is at record levels increasing across the board by 10.4% while home invasions are up by a massive 43.5 per cent, sexual offences are up by 33.2 per cent while common assaults are up by 39 per cent since Daniel Andrews came to office.

Matthew Guy is promising a fast rail network to connect the regions and regional cities with Melbourne.

And our cost of living just keeps going up and up, with no relief in sight while Daniel Andrews taxes us more and more.

Under Daniel Andrews, Victoria can now lay claim to two unenviable titles: being the state with the highest crime rate in Australia and the state with the highest level of taxation.

Only the Liberals have a plan to Get Back In Control of population growth that will fix the problems Daniel Andrews and Labor have created.

We will have a Population Commission to stabilise Melbourne’s population growth and get more people to the regions.

We will build a European-style fast rail network to connect the regions and regional cities with Melbourne — halving the daily commute to 32 minutes for example from Geelong to Melbourne.

We have Infrastructure Plus, which will see the East West Link and the North East Link built while guaranteeing to complete all projects currently underway or contracted.

Infrastructure Plus will also build new regional hospitals and refurbish rundown schools across state.

The Liberals will introduce more PSOs and have more police on the beat

We will introduce more PSOs and have more police on the beat to deal with the rioters and gangs that terrorise neighbourhoods.

And our tough new mandatory sentencing laws will see that jail means jail for convicted criminals.

The cost of living will also be tackled with cuts to energy bills as well as a special energy deal for low income earners saving them up to $530 a year; free books for secondary school students saving families $476 for each child they have at school; cuts of up to $100 to water bills; increased subsidies for regional patients having to travel to Melbourne for treatment; and more initiatives to be announced.

Only the Liberal and National parties have a comprehensive plan to help Victorians Get Back In Control of their lives — and all without increasing taxes.
