Wet night ahead for Melbourne’s eastern suburbs
THE COOL change has reached parts of Melbourne, with some southeastern suburbs seeing hail. The rain will continue into the evening, here’s how it’ll affect your commute home.

COOLER weather has reached parts of Melbourne, with consistent rain and hail falling in some areas.
The city’s southeastern suburbs have seen large falls of rain in the last hour, with reports of hail in Dandenong and Cheltenham.

INSIDE LOOK AT HOW MELBOURNE’S WEATHER IS FORECAST
After a brief shower in Melbourne’s CBD this afternoon, more rain will fall after 6pm.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Michael Efron said 10 to 15mm was expected to fall in Melbourne this evening.
“The eastern suburbs will see the highest total, including the Dandenong Ranges,” he said.
“We are expecting 10mm, even up to 15mm of rain by midnight.”
Mr Efron said the weather system was responsible for thunderstorms and rapid temperature drops in the state’s north west.
“Mildura is sitting on 20C but Hopetoun, which is not far south west, is sitting on 8C,” he said.

Despite all the rain, Melburnians will wake to cold and dry Friday.
Showers, hail and thunder are expected about lunchtime most likely in the southern and eastern suburbs.
Earlier today, Mt Buller recorded 100km gusts at 6.56am while winds at Wilsons Promontory hit 95km.
