Beaumaris massage parlour is operating as illegal brothel, locals say

A MASSAGE parlour less than 200m from a Beaumaris primary school is operating as an illegal brothel say disgusted parents, and they want it shut down immediately.

Is your massage parlour actually a brothel

PARENTS, residents and traders say a Beaumaris massage parlour is operating as an illegal brothel less than 200m from a primary school — and want it shut down “immediately”.

The massage parlour at the centre of the allegations is operating in a commercial area.

A Beaumaris father — who has two children who work near the alleged brothel — said he was “shocked and disgusted” by it.

“These places destroy families; it’s not appropriate to have a place like that so close to schools and shops,” said the man, who wished to remain anonymous.

“What’s worse is everyone knows about it, the (young people) know about it, old ladies know about it, it’s disgusting and should be closed down immediately.”

The man said his children had witnessed “a lot of activity in and out after hours”.

“It shocks me how a place like this can (can operate) when I’ve been told people are walking in and blatantly being asked if they want sex,” he said.

At least two nearby traders are aware of the premises, and both want it closed down.

The massage parlour has no phone number or website, but the business is advertised on an online classified site known for soliciting sex.

Sandringham State Liberal candidate Brad Rowswell said he had been approached by several parents about the alleged brothel.

“My first priority is to ensure the safety of local school students and families,” he said.

“I’m greatly concerned by how close this alleged activity is to a local primary school.”

Bayside Council chief executive Mick Cummins said illegal brothels were a police matter.

“Victoria Police is responsible for investigating and prosecuting all illegal prostitution and brothel operations,” he said.

“Residents are encouraged to report any suspected illegal activity to police.”

The Leader has chosen not to reveal the name or location of the massage parlour in question.
