Radio host Marty Sheargold’s return to the airwaves has been branded as “nasty” and “brash” by listeners.

The breakfast host, 52, returned to his Triple M show in January after taking a three month break, citing mental health concerns.

It followed an incident at the AFL grand final in September when there were complaints about his behaviour which saw him leave the match at halftime.

Some listeners took to social media this week to weigh in on Sheargold’s antics on air as of late.

“Just wondering if anyone listens to the Marty Sheargold Show in the mornings and whether you’ve noticed a trend of nastiness in Marty’s jokes? It seems to have become worse lately,” a listener wrote online.

“He’s become a bigger w----r since he came back (to air). Mean p---k wouldn’t dare spout half the crap he says to the callers if they were in the studio,” another wrote.

“I agree with you, he’s become worse since his meltdown and recovery,” said another user.

“He’s always been a flog. Stopped listening to him years ago when he was on Nova and just rude and brash,” said another.

It comes after Sheargold was called out for making an anti-Semitic remark on his show last month.

Sheargold was in conversation with colleagues Loren Barry and Troy Ellis about how Easter and Passover cross over this year.

Barry said: “Easter can occur on any Sunday between March 22 and April 25. Easter’s exact date varies so much because it actually depends on the moon.

“Early Christians wanted Easter to coincide with Passover because Christ’s death and resurrection happened after the Jewish holiday. Because the Jewish calendar is tied to solar and lunar cycles the dates of Passover and Easter fluctuate each year.”

After a laugh over Barry’s pronunciation of fluctuate, Sheargold said: “And, of course, I should have known it would rely on what the Jewish people wanted.”

Southern Cross Austereo, which owns Triple M, was contacted for comment.
