A buxom, Barbie-obsessed Gabi Grecko is steaming up social media with sexy content as she prepares for a legal battle to snare a slice of her late, ex-husband Geoffrey Edelsten’s estate.
The Herald Sun can reveal a private mediation for Grecko’s Supreme Court Edelsten estate action will be held on September 5 and a Melbourne directions hearing in the matter is listed for November 28 this year.
It is not known how much of Edelsten’s $1.2m estate Grecko hopes to secure but the tussle is set to be between three plaintiffs and the executors of Edelsten’s estate, making it a four-way contest for the meagre funds.
Another of Edelsten’s ex-wive’s, Brynne Gordon, launched legal action in July 2022, while his son, Matthew Beard, kicked off his action in April last year.
Grecko’s lawyer, Michael Clohesy, told the Herald Sun on Thursday that Grecko — who is living in the US — was now poor.
The behind-closed-doors mediation in Melbourne next month would not require his client, who was living in Florida, to come to Australia, and it was likely the matter would be settled at mediation stage and not progress to the listed November court hearing, he said.
“The type of claim we’re bringing is what we call a family provision claim. And the basis for Gabi’s claim is that she didn’t actually know she was divorced,” Mr Clohesy said.
Grecko was seeking “an order that such further provision for her proper maintenance and support as the court thinks fit be made from the (Edelsten) estate”, he said.
Meanwhile, the colourful ex-wife of the late, controversial Melbourne businessman has amassed nearly 74,000 followers on Instagram with flirtatious videos and photo posts.
Grecko’s at times bizarre, photo and video posts are mostly filmed inside what appears to be her home and bedroom, where she is often scantily clad.
Grecko, who describes herself as an artist and also goes by the social media name Gabi Glitta, says on Instagram she dresses “with what I was blessed wit (sic)”, and “never been arrested for nothin’ domestic”.
She has alleged in a court affidavit that she was the victim of abuse at the hands of Edelsten, causing to her to attempt suicide while pregnant at one point in the volatile marriage.
Grecko has also said that Edelsten divorced her in November 2019 without her knowledge and that she had believed until this year that she was his widow.
She claimed the divorce papers were served on her electronically in September 2019, landing in two email accounts she had not used for years, and that she was never told her their marriage had been legally ended.
Grecko said she was left nothing in Edelsten’s will following his 2021 death in Melbourne, aged 78.
The former Sydney Swans owner died on June 11 — the anniversary of his wedding to Grecko — alone.
Grecko, by contrast, claims she is anything but lonely, with men falling over themselves for her.
In a March post of a childhood photo of herself wearing a beauty pageant sash Grecko said: “Bacc (sic) then they didn't want now im hot they all on me.”
More recently, she has jumped on the Barbie-core wagon, donning hot pink and even colouring her hair pink in celebration of the hit movie.
Grecko has also proudly flaunted her growing number of intricate breast, neck, torso and neck tattoos on her social media, as she sways and jiggles her breasts seductively in videos.
Grecko said earlier this year her marriage to Edelsten was an “abusive, controlling” relationship that led her to a suicide attempt which caused a miscarriage and severe injuries including a smashed hip, broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
Clohesy Legal, representing Grecko, launched her claim against Edelsten’s estate in the Victorian Supreme Court in late December under Grecko’s real name of Gabriella Rose Curtis.
The action is listed as being between Gabriella Rose Curtis and Michael John Webb and Lindsay Lawrence Hosking in their capacity as executers of Edelsten’s will.
“Despite our marriage, sadly, Geoffrey was often unpleasant and verbally abusive to me,” Grecko states in an affidavit.
“He was extremely controlling, constantly wanting to know what I was doing.”
“Whilst Geoffrey’s last will makes no provision for me, on more than one occasion he told me when we were together that he had signed a will leaving everything to me,” the affidavit states.
Grecko and Edelsten met in February 2014 through a dating site. They had dinner in New York soon after making contact and the following day Edelsten invited her to Australia.
Edelsten proposed to Grecko with a $50,000 engagement ring in the Flemington Birdcage on Melbourne Cup Day in 2014 and they were married in June 2015, when she was 26 and he was 72.
