The mother of late motocross star Jayden “Jayo” Archer has revealed the heartwarming message he sent her minutes before his tragic death.

Popular Melbourne motocross figure Mr Archer, 28, died on February 21 after attempting to land the triple backflip that shot him to superstardom in the sport.

His mother Tracey told more than 600 mourners at his funeral at the Cumulus Chapel in Dandenong South that “Jayo” had sent her an inspirational quote expressing his love.

“Fourteen minutes before my beloved son left this earth he screenshotted a quote (that read) ‘I am strong because I was raised by a strong woman’ (and) I will hold onto this for the rest of my life,” she said.

“He will never truly leave the ones he loved. He will live on in our hearts and memories for eternity he was and always will be my golden boy ‘Jayo’.

“He was one in a million and what he gave to those he knew will last a lifetime. I could not be more grateful to be his mum.”

Mr Archer was a child prodigy in the motocross world, who was destined for greatness as soon as “Santa” delivered him his first bike at four-years-old.

It did not take long for Mr Archer, who grew up at Patterson Lakes in Melbourne’s southeast, to take the sport by storm.

He became the youngest person in the world to land a backflip over 75 feet and won two X games medals, including bronze in California last year.

Arguably his most iconic moment came in 2022 when he became the first rider in history to nail a triple backflip, landing it at the Nitro World Games in Brisbane before he famously proposed to girlfriend Beth King.

Ms King described him as the most “incredible human (she’s) ever met” in a heartfelt tribute.

“He was funny, tough, resilient, determined and a hard worker and he was also kind, beautiful, loving, caring, gentle and down to earth,” she said.

“He never realised the impact he had on all of our lives, even if it was just one conversation. He was an amazing friend and an amazing partner, from our first dates I knew that he was it.

“No longer than one year into our relationship we were in the car and he asked me ‘how long do I have to wait before I can propose to you?’

“Although it will never feel like enough, I count my lucky stars to have had my time with Jayo. He will forever be part of the person I am today.”

Ms King also promised to “forever tell (his) stories” and that she would “love” him forever.

Mr Archer’s father, Gary, who travelled with his son across the country and overseas said he was blown away by the impact he had on so many people.

“I’ve heard so many great things about ‘Jayo’ in the last two weeks including the impact he’s had on so many people and their lives,” he said.

“I knew he was amazing and special but to hear it from all corners of the globe is a testament to the fine young man he became. He packed so much in his 28 years … his legacy will live on forever and he’ll never be forgotten.”

In a video tribute Nitro Circus and US X-Games champion Travis Pastrana described Mr Archer as a “true good friend”.

“You will be missed but never forgotten,” he said.

The hundreds in attendance farewelled the motocross star, whose loved ones decorated his coffin with his helmet and riding boots, with a guard of honour outside the chapel.
