Heartbroken mourners have paid tribute to three of the victims that died in the tragic Daylesford pub crash at a funeral service.
Pratibha Sharma, her daughter Anvi, 9, and her partner Jatin Chugh were farewelled by heartbroken loved ones at a funeral in Springvale on Thursday.
Dr Sonia Singh, who gave a eulogy at the funeral which was live-streamed, encouraged mourners to “send the family good prayers”.
“This is a lesson. You never know when you’re going to what time you will go,” she said.
“Live a life that leaves a legacy … I don’t have words.
“How (Pratibha) lived her life was exemplary ... she took on every challenge like she had to win,” she said.
“(Jatin) was such a gentleman who defined how a man should be.”
She said the family “deserved heaven because they made everybody’s life heaven”.
Makarand Bhagwat, who officiated the funeral, said the “terrible tragedy at Daylesford had put the family into very difficult circumstances”, with the various investigations resulting in a “significant delay” in hosting the funeral.
“This is an occasion today to offer our last respects to the beautiful people who are no longer with us,” he said.
The funeral for father Vivek Bhatia and his son Vihaan, 11, was held last Saturday at a private ceremony.
Vivek’s wife Rucchi Bhatia was discharged from hospital last week and remains by her youngest son Abeer’s bedside who is “doing well” as he recovers from injuries in hospital.
