Meghan Markle’s navy dress by Aussie designer crashes website

MEGHAN Markle has donned a second stylish dress during her short trip to Melbourne, after her first choice this morning crashed its Aussie designer’s website.

Royal Tour Wrap: Day Two

AUSTRALIAN designer Dion Lee has been given the royal seal of approval today with Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle stepping out in fitted navy number from the local label on the morning of her Melbourne visit.

The Sydney designer custom-made the sleek and sophisticated sleeveless navy dress for the Duchess and is now frantically trying to get the dress into production to satisfy her stylish fans.

And it wasn’t the only choice for Meghan on her short trip to Melbourne.

She changed into a second dress for the afternoon, a Club Moncao number with metallic button detailing under a favourite versatile camel trench.

Lee’s website had crashed within just a few minutes of a pregnant Meghan stepping out to greet the crowds at Government House Drive this morning.

Lee said he was thrilled that the Duchess chose to wear one of his designs and said she perfectly embodies his brand’s ethos.

“I think Meghan brings a sophistication and ease to the designs; she is relatable to people and that relaxed sophistication is at the core of our brand.”

Lee said the classic design was made at Meghan’s request after seeing another of his designs that she admired.

“We custom-made the gown at her request and it’s so special to see the product on Meghan. “She looks beautiful and we are so grateful for the worldwide exposure she has given the brand.”

It is expected to be available for pre-order from today on the designer’s website in both navy and black. Lee is in Melbourne today visiting his local boutiques.

Clearly warned about Melbourne’s famous “four seasons in a day”, Meghan re-wore her trusty martin Grant beige trench coat and accessorised with a Gucci handbag featuring chain hardware detailing.

The Duchess is visiting Government House, riding a tram, dining at a cafe and visiting schoolkids as part of the Melbourne leg of her Australian tour with Prince Harry for the 2018 Invictus Games.

So far on the Australian tour, the Duchess has caused a frenzy wearing Sydney designer Karen Gee, Australian jeans brand Outland Denim and Rothy flats.

Sydney designer Karen Gee’s website crashed after fashion lovers flocked to the site to buy the $1800 white dress.

The Duchess then made headlines on Tuesday for wearing Outland Denim jeans in Dubbo

The jean brand was started by Queensland couple James and Erica Bartle and aims to directly help survivors of sex and human trafficking in Cambodia.

Markle paired the Aussie jeans with a Maison Kitsune shirt, Serena Williams Collection jacket, J. Crew boots and a necklace by Australian designer Natalie Marie.

The Duchess in the past has worn Aussie label Camila and Marc, as well as Natalie Marie Jewellery and Oroton.
