The man killed in a “freak” camping accident on Boxing Day has been identified as Bunyip man Greg Jordan.
His devastated children paid tribute to their “rock of the whole family” who loved nothing more than driving trucks and teaching his two children to ride dirt bikes.
Mr Jordan was camping at a private property on Rusks Rd in Caringal, in the state’s high country, when a tree branch struck him on the head about 9am on Boxing Day.
Emergency crews tried to revive him but he died at the scene as wild weather lashed much of the state.
His 18-year-old daughter, Serena, said she was still coming to terms with the loss of her “king” in a heartbreaking social media post on Thursday.
“It is with a heavy heart that on Boxing Day morning we lost a king. My Dad,” she said.
“It was a freak accident that ended in tragedy. And no, I don’t want to believe it either.
“He was a super man that would always go out of his way to help anyone at any time, he was a son, a brother, a husband but most of all he was my dad that never gave up on anybody.
“To mum, dad was a loving caring husband (that wouldn’t let her use his ride-on mower), because that was his job.
“But dad was strong and protective of his family and wouldn’t let anyone get in the way.”
Serena Jordan said she and her 21-year-old brother, Bailey, would “make dad proud” in the years to come as he left behind wife Karen.
“To my brother Bailey, we’re gonna make dad proud, we will stand tall and promise dad to look after mum we will carry our dads legacy forward and not look back,” she added.
“He was a man with a pure heart that wanted the best for us kids, yes we might have been spoiled, but dad taught us to appreciate the little things.
“Dad taught us how to drive and ride dirt bikes and do all the things that not many other dads did for their kids.
“But we will definitely make him proud when your little bubba comes along.
“I love you dad forever and always.”
