Child killed by falling tree branch near Shepparton amid Victorian storms
A primary school aged boy has died after being struck by a large tree branch in Victoria’s north, as wild weather lashed the state this week.

A young boy has died after being struck by a large tree branch in Victoria’s north, as wild weather lashed the state this week.
The child was with family members at a private property off Bells Rd in Gowangardie, near Shepparton, when he was found injured about 8am.
The primary school aged boy died at the scene.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
It comes as the bodies of two campers were found in a Buchan campground following Christmas and Boxing Day flash flooding.
Homes and businesses across Wedderburn, Shepparton, Echuca and Kyabram were also severely damaged by flood waters and storms.
The woman’s body was located by emergency services during a search of the flooded campsite on Tuesday about 6.45pm.
A man’s body, who is believed to have been camping with the woman, was retrieved a day later on Wednesday afternoon.
The man and woman are yet to be identified.
In Buchan, a number of vehicles in the campground were under water and other campers had to be rescued from a nearby bridge.
The tragedy came after a man was killed by a falling tree branch while camping in the High Country on Tuesday.
The Herald Sun understands the man was camping on a private property on Rusks Rd in Caringal, which belongs to a hazelnut farm, when a tree struck him in the head about 9am.
