Lajamanu School records highest improvement for years 5 and 9 NAPLAN results

A remote Northern Territory school has had a huge improvement in NAPLAN results over a five-year period. See how every school ranked.

The most — and least — improved Northern Territory schools for NAPLAN results over the past five years have been revealed.

An analysis compared the five-year change in NAPLAN results from 2017 and 2021 and revealed the schools that have improved their Year 5 and Year 9 student scores the most.

It was calculated by each school’s combined results for each NAPLAN subject in 2017 and compared to the same results in 2021.

DARWIN SCHOOLS

Ludmilla Primary School recorded the biggest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results increasing by 12.56 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Anula Primary School was the second best with an increase of 11.63 per cent followed by Haileybury Rendall School at Berrimah with an increase of 8.57 per cent.

Meanwhile, Marrara Christian College in Marrara recorded the biggest improvement for a secondary school with average year 9 NAPLAN results increasing by 4.03 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Haileybury Rendall School was the second best with a 2.86 per cent increase followed by Nightcliff Middle School with an increase of 2.63 per cent.

Meanwhile, Alawa Primary School recorded the lowest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results returning a result of -7.12 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

While St John’s Catholic College in The Gardens recorded the lowest improvement for a secondary school returning a result of -3.32 per cent over the past five years.

PALMERSTON SCHOOLS

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Woodroffe recorded the biggest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results increasing by 6.59 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Bakewell Primary School was the second best with an increase of 4.26 per cent followed by Gray Primary School with an increase of 1.57 per cent.

Meanwhile, Palmerston Christian College in Marlow Lagoon recorded the biggest improvement for a secondary school with average year 9 NAPLAN results changing by -1.96 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

MacKillop Catholic College at Johnston was the second best with a -2.98 per cent change.

Meanwhile, Woodroffe Primary School recorded the lowest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results returning a result of -1.09 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Bakewell Primary School: 4.26 per cent

REMOTE AND RURAL SCHOOLS

Lajamanu School recorded the biggest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results increasing by 55.06 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Adelaide River School was the second best with an increase of 48.06 per cent followed by Pigeon Hole School with an increase of 33.92 per cent.

Meanwhile, Milingimbi School recorded the biggest improvement for a secondary school with average year 9 NAPLAN results increasing by 35.06 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Ramingining School was the second best with a 22.0 per cent increase followed by Gapuwiyak School at Gapuwiyak with an increase of 19.11 per cent.

Meanwhile, Nyangatjatjara College in Yulara recorded the lowest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results returning a result of -50.0 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

While, Shepherdson College in Galiwinku recorded the lowest improvement for a secondary school returning a result of -25.66 per cent over the past five years.

Sadadeen Primary School recorded the biggest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results increasing by 12.92 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Braitling Primary School was the second best with an increase of 8.92 per cent followed by Gillen Primary School with an increase of 5.62 per cent.

Meanwhile, Araluen Christian College recorded the biggest improvement for a secondary school with average year 9 NAPLAN results increasing by 6.86 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Centralian Middle School was the second best with a -0.59 per cent change followed by St Philip’s College with a change of -0.99 per cent.

Meanwhile, Yipirinya School recorded the lowest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results returning a result of -11.42 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

While, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic College recorded the lowest improvement for a secondary school returning a result of -2.12 per cent over the past five years.
