TWO men remain on the run after fleeing from a stolen car after it was stopped by police deploying tyre deflation spikes.
NT Police Southern Watch Commander Adrian Kidney said the two men had initially stolen a handbag from Uncle’s Tavern in Alice Springs about midnight Tuesday night, before finding keys to a car inside the bag.
“The victim reported her handbag containing her vehicle keys was stolen,” he said.

“Police later received reports of the vehicle driving erratically around the CBD.”
Snr Sgt Kidney said Police weren’t lured into a police chase, instead attempting to stop the car safely.
“Police set up Tyre Deflation Devices (TDDs) in and around the CBD,” he said.
“TDD’s were successfully deployed and the vehicle was located abandoned on Undoolya Rd.”
Unfortunately Police were unable to capture the perpetrators who remain on the loose.
“Two males were seen fleeing the area on foot however remain outstanding,” Snr Sgt Kidney said.
“The vehicle will be forensically tested in order to identify the offenders.”
