Shannon Taylor, 29, from Patterson Lakes, was remanded in police custody on Thursday night after facing Melbourne Magistrates’ Court charged with a string of offences including burglary, theft and possession of weapons and drugs.
Police allege Mr Taylor stole three rare Porsches worth $1.3 million from a Wheelers property Hill between December 15 and 17 last year, while on bail.
Police documents allege he tried to ditch the keys to one of the stolen cars, a black Porsche GT3 RS, inside Rebel Sport in Bendigo after he was sprung by police on 22 December.
He fled police on foot but they managed to find the keys to the car which allegedly contained a fully loaded pistol, six rounds of ammunition, a baseball bat, three fuel cans and various drugs including GHB and ecstasy.
CCTV footage was used to track down Mr Taylor, who is a key suspect in several other violent crimes.
Police documents reveal he is likely to be charged with intentionally using a “suspected stolen vehicle as a weapon to run down a young female police officer on duty”.
It is alleged the driver of a black BMW wagon accelerated in the direction of the officer who was forced to “leap from the path” to avoid being struck by the car in Mount Eliza about 4am on October 25.
The car took off at speed after being approached by a second female police officer who was clipped with the side mirror.
Taylor is also being investigated over a serious assault in which the male victim was “left to die” in Mount Eliza.
Police documents reveal the male victim, aged in his 50s, suffered a deep 20cm laceration across his stomach and another serious laceration to his right thigh after being attacked on a local oval on November 5.
He also suffered severe bruising to his left eye and left side of his body and was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition after being discovered by tradesman as they arrived at work.
A machete, false plates and drugs including methamphetamine, steroids and ketamine were allegedly uncovered by police who raided his Patterson Lakes home on Thursday.
Taylor did not apply for bail and was remanded until his next court appearance.
“The accused is an obvious unacceptable risk,” police documents state.
