Thugs, who are said to be of Asian appearance, demanded money from the men and when the pair refused the group launched a sickening attack before fleeing the scene with an amount of cash.
The mum, who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons, described a resident who called triple-0 and stopped them from “bleeding to death” as an “angel”.

“I will forever be in this woman’s debt. She heard my boys and rushed out to save them,
“She saved their lives, I’m speechless.”
The stabbing was one of two in the city last night. A man was fatally stabbed in North Melbourne.
Monica, who declined to give her last name, was hosting a party at her home in on Green St, Noble Park when she heard a noise.
“I heard a guy say, ‘the light, let’s ask here’,” she said.
“All of a sudden I see this head pop over my fence and they asked for help.”
Monica said the two men were covered in blood and asked her to call for an ambulance.
“They said to me ‘we’ve been chopped, we’re really hurting’,” she said.
“One of them had blood gushing out of his head, there was blood everywhere.”
Monica said when she called triple-0, paramedics told talked her through what she needed to do before they arrived.
“They were assisting me on how to control the wounds,” she said.
“I had to run in and out of my house to get towels because one of them was bleeding really bad.
“They were advising me on how to keep his head down and for him not to get up.”
Monica said within minutes paramedics and police arrived.
“They took over straight away but I was still assisting,” she said.
“I wanted to do everything I could to make sure these guys didn’t die.”
Investigators remain at an address of interest in Noble Park following the stabbing.
Detective Sergeant Adam Ferguson said a neighbour made the initial call to triple-0 about 1.10am.
“At this stage we’re investing a trail of blood that starts here in Klein St and finishes at Green St and Prior Rd,” he said.
Det Sgt Ferguson said one of the victims was unconscious when emergency services arrived.
“They both received injuries to their upper body and we believe they were attacked with a sharp object,” he said.
“It appears they’ve (victims) turned up at an address to meet with some people.
“We don’t know who they’ve met with though.”
Det Sgt Ferguson described the attack as “vicious”.
“They’ve been stabbed multiple times with possibly more than one weapon.”
Both victims were taken to The Alfred hospital with serious upper body injuries and are in a stable condition. The offenders remain on the run.
No arrests have been made yet in either incident.
MAN FATALLY STABBED IN NORTH MELBOURNE
A MAN was fatally stabbed at a flat in North Melbourne last night.
The man was found fighting for life in North Melbourne after a passer-by discovered him with stab wounds about 4.45am.
Paramedics treated the man at Courtney St near a block of flats but died in hospital a short time later.
Mystery surrounds why two men were attacked and stabbed by a group of five to six men during a terrifying armed robbery in Noble Park.

In the city’s north east, the Critical Incident Response team were called to an address in Mill Park after reports a man had barricaded himself inside a house about 10.30pm.
After some time, CIRT officers stormed the Cunningham Dr house, arresting the 44-year-old man.
The man remains in custody.
