Alfredton man killed in Cuthberts Road, Cardigan tree smash
A man from Alfredton has been identified as the person killed in a crash with a tree in central Victoria.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash near Ballarat on Thursday morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Cuthberts Road in Cardigan following reports of a car striking a tree about 6.10am.
The driver of the car, a 26-year-old Alfredton man, is believed to have been travelling eastward along the road.
He died at the scene.
“The exact cause of the crash is yet to be identified,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
“Anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.”
Cuthberts Road was closed between Whites Road and Chisholmes Road.
The death brings the lives lost on Victoria’s roads to 164 so far this year, with 94 occurring on regional roads – a 20 per cent increase on the same time in 2021.
