Mia Fevola has revealed the inspiration behind her impressive foray into the business world.
The young entrepreneur has launched her own fashion brand MALLT Collective after working as a make up artist while also closing in on a marketing degree.
She spent years saving the funds for her passion project and heeded advice from her savvy parents, Runway Room owner Alex and radio broadcaster Brendan.
“I read a quote that said ‘doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will’ and I think so many people are fearful of chasing their dreams to avoid failure or being unsuccessful,’’ said Fevola, 20.
“If you’re passionate about something I say go for it. I was scared to invest my savings into something that might have turned out a failure, but at the end of the day you learn so much from the experience of starting and building a business and that’s more valuable to me.
“My parents taught me to take the risk if it was something I was passionate about and if it was something I was willing to work hard enough on to grow. Mum always said to be authentic in what I was doing and the main thing for a successful business is genuine passion.”
Fevola, who has over 129,000 followers on Instagram, said what made her most proud was achieving success on her own.
Earlier this year she split from Richmond premiership forward Daniel Rioli but they remain friends and he also posted the brand to social media in support.
The name of the brand, MALLT, came from combining her first initial with those of her mum Alex and siblings Leni, Lulu and Tobi.
“I’m really proud that I’ve been able to establish this on my own, I’ve definitely had the help of mum when I go to her for advice or any questions I have, but regardless of the outcome I’ve learnt so much from this experience and I feel so lucky to have started off with a platform that has allowed me to bring my dreams to life,’’ she said.
“Seeing so many women wearing my clothes and posting on social media is so amazing to me and I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve seen in the last two months since launching.”
Fevola’s recent success has brought her footy Dad to tears and drawn public praise.
She said she will continue to work hard to achieve her goals.
“I’ve been saving since I was about 16 years old, I knew I wanted to invest my money into a business and I’ve always wanted to buy a house at a young age so all my savings I’ve invested into my business is hopefully building towards a house deposit one day soon,’’ she said.
“I think always hearing about (Mum’s) businesses and working for her made me more inspired to have that for myself one day, and when we went into lockdown it seemed like the perfect time to really focus on that vision and bring it to life.
“My mum always instilled in me that you can be anything that you want to be so having that belief has really inspired me.”
