Brendan Fevola has paid an emotional tribute to his daughter Mia for surviving a tough year and launching her own business.
Mia has stepped into the fashion world with the MALLT Collective — named after herself, mother Alex and sisters Lulu, Leni and Tobi — following a time of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and her split with Tigers star Daniel Rioli in February.
“Mia has been working very hard, for herself, and for her business, this year,” Fevola said. “To watch your kid, and everything she puts in, it makes me so proud. I remember when she was a baby, and changing her nappies, then she’s a child, a teenager, and now she’s in her 20s, starting up her own business.”
After Mia’s recent launch event, Fevola said on social media: “I never cry about anything but I’m so proud of you. I love you honey. May the world be your oyster.”
Mia also posted: “It’s my first ever business adventure and I’ve never felt so excited and passionate about something before.”
Rioli also sent his congratulations.
“I’m a very proud parent. That’s why I get emotional,” Fevola told Confidential.
“Most parents would be like that if their kids started up their own business. She saved up all her money from work, and has paid for everything herself.
“To watch her do that, and not waste her money like her dad did when he was younger, and put it to something useful; it as a really proud dad moment.”
Earlier this year, Mia offered insights on dealing with a break-up, telling her Instagram followers: “The feeling probably won’t ever disappear but you learn to deal with it and time heals everything.”
She also encouraged people to find a hobby and to “cry to your friends but know that the best days of your life haven’t even happened yet.”
Fevola’s comments came as he launched pop up radio station, Little Fox, a radio station aimed at under-10s, alongside other Southern Cross Austereo stars Fifi Box, Carrie Bickmore, Tommy Little, Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee.
Little Fox features music, stories, mini lessons, fun facts, and feature a shout-out line where kids can request their favourite songs.
