WWE superstar John Cena has been living his best Melbourne life — visiting art galleries, sipping lattes in laneways and eating at some of the city’s best restaurants.
The Hollywood heavyweight, who is in town with Zac Efron to shoot a film, has been making the most of his downtime living like a local.
He’s been a regular at Degraves Espresso, visiting the iconic laneway cafe almost every day last week.
“He came in every single day aside from Thursday,” a waiter told the Herald Sun.
“I was one of the main people waitressing him. I’ve respected his space and he’s been a very good customer ... he’s welcome back any time.”
The waiter said the visit wasn’t arranged and he walked in off the street.
“He could see the energy of this place, and just walked in and grabbed a table,” she said.
“We have had a lot (of fans) come in and interrupt while he was enjoying a beautiful meal with his wife, but it’s been a pleasure having him around for the business.”
“More people have been coming in because he’s been around.”

Cena also visited the NGV’s Alexander McQueen exhibition with his wife Shay Shariatzadeh, and has been frequenting some high-end restaurants at the top end of Collins St.
On Monday night Cena made a surprise visit to laneway restaurant, Aru.
“He was incredibly lovely and the team were thrilled to have him,” a restaurant spokesman said.
Aru is bustling, modern southeast Asian restaurant by chef Khanh Ngyugen (of Sunda fame) and last year was ranked Victoria’s 10th best restaurant and best south east Asian restaurant in the delicious. 100.
It’s unclear what the Hollywood hunk ate, or who his dining companions were, though we can only assume he tucked into the restaurant’s famous Bunnings-inspired duck sausage sanga or the bahn mi pate en croute.
Cena is in Melbourne this month with heart-throb Zac Efron to film scenes for their upcoming US feature film Rick Stanicky.
The duo will be shooting in the unexpected location of Bundoora next month, shutting down Oz Tenpin Greensborough Lanes, with as many as 150 cast and crew on site for filming.
