Labor promises extra funds for five Wyndham public schools

Five Wyndham schools will share in an extra $90,000 under a Labor plan to boost learning environments. The money is on top of the $31 million pledged for every public school in the area.

More than $90,000 in added equipment and services has just been pledged for several Wyndham schools.

The extra cash splash comes on top of a $31 million plan to boost to the area’s public schools, reported by the Wyndham Leader last week.

Lalor federal Labor MP Joanne Ryan said five local schools would benefit from the latest cash injection aimed at improving students’ learning environment.

“As a former teacher and principal, I know that in order for students to reach their full potential in the classroom, schools need funding to provide the necessary equipment and facilities,” she said.

“Whether it be developing healthy eating practices in a weekly cooking program or having access to an iPad to develop digital literacy, students attending our local public schools deserve every opportunity to learn.”

Here’s how the $90,000 will be spent:

Tarneit Secondary College: $23,000 towards a learning support centre, helping students with disabilities reach their learning outcomes.

Mossfiel Primary: $20,500 towards a set of class iPads to ease the financial burden on parents.

Wyndham Vale Primary: $19,979 towards a robotics kit and iPads to help students improve their coding and STEM skills.

Featherbrook P-9 College: $19,478 towards musical instruments.

Woodville Primary: $7669 towards cooking facilities, giving students the chance to learn how to prepare nutritious meals.
