An Altona North man has been accused of leaving a trail of $80,000 worth of property damage after an alleged crime spree across Melbourne’s western suburbs.

An alleged thief is accused of going on a month-long crime bender that left a trail of $80,000 worth of stolen goods and damage to businesses in Melbourne’s west.
Police have laid more than 40 burglary and theft related charges against Altona North man Samson Ayeligne, 36, who has been accused of a string of commercial burglaries between August 11 and September 18 at businesses in Hoppers Crossing, Point Cook, Kingsville, Footscray, Laverton, Deer Park and Avondale Heights.
It’s also alleged he stole a vehicle which was seized by police during his arrest at an Altona North property earlier this month.
Mr Ayeligne appeared briefly for mention at Sunshine Magistrates Court on Monday after he was arrested on October 1.
He was charged with 18 counts of burglary, theft of motor vehicle, criminal damage and theft.
No application for bail was made.
It is alleged the estimated value of property damage and stolen items exceeded $80,000.
Mr Ayelifne was remanded to return to court for contest mention in November.
