Seven males have been arrested after an alleged shocking explosion of violence near a busy shopping strip left three teenagers with knife wounds.

Emergency services rushed to the Melton South on September 4 after a 15-year-old Melton boy was stabbed underneath the Western Fwy overpass about 8.30pm.

Arriving at the scene on Coburns Rd, they found the teenager bleeding from a stab wound to his stomach.

Not long after, two more teenage boys, a 15-year-old from Kurunjang and a 16-year-old St Albans were located near the Melton Station Square with stab wounds.

All three were rushed to hospital in “serious but not life-threatening” conditions, and have since recovered from their injuries.

At the time of the alleged offending, witnesses reported seeing up to 20 people involved in an altercation outside the busy shopping centre.

Brimbank Divisional Commander Superintendent Michael Cruse said he was “very concerned” about the public violence and police believed the incidents were linked.

“Knife crime is very concerning, for the victim it has life-changing consequences,” he said.

On Tuesday police revealed a number of people have been interviewed about the incident, with seven males charged over the alleged offending.

Three of those; a 24-year-old Melton South man, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, were charged with offences including assault with a weapon, and intentionally causing injury.

Four other males, all aged 15, have been charged with affray.

A police spokeswoman said investigations are continuing and asked for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
