Three people have been killed in separate incidents in Melbourne’s west and near the South Australian border, in a shocking night on the state’s roads.

The first incident occurred in Big Desert in Victoria’s west, when a rider collided with a car driven by a 32-year-old Carina man on Murrayville-Nhill Rd near Brushcutters Track just before 4.30pm.

The rider, a 33-year-old Kilsyth man, died at the scene.

Two-and-a-half-hours later, another male rider, a 21-year-old Craigieburn man, was killed in a similar collision on Vantage Boulevard in Craigieburn about 7pm.

The driver, a 24-year-old Greenvale man, was released pending further inquiries.

At 7.30pm, a 76-year-old Hoppers Crossing woman was killed after she was hit by a car on Heaths Rd in Werribee.

The drivers in each of the three incidents were uninjured, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of each crash.

The three deaths have increased Victoria’s 2022 road toll to 169, compared with 144 this time last year.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage from each incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au.
