Melbourne’s best hairdresser in the west has been named. She runs a salon in Werribee, has been in the game for more than two decades and has big plans for the future.

The votes are in and Melbourne’s best hairdresser in the west has been decided.

Rebecca Sinopoli of Curl Up ‘N Dye with Rebecca in Werribee took out the award following nominations by Leader readers to find their favourite stylist for their luscious locks.

Ms Sinopoli said she’s been in the game for 26 years and owned her Synnot St salon for 12 years.

She said she knew hairdressing was what she wanted to do from the moment she first picked up a pair of scissors.

“I did work experience in the salon when I was at school and that was it, I knew I wanted to be a hairdresser. I did my apprenticeship with a local hairdresser and kept going,” Ms Sinopoli said.

The best thing about the job, Ms Sinopoli said, was getting to know her clients and making them feel good.

“We know our clients better than their partners do,” Ms Sinopoli said.

And while lockdown took a toll on many businesses, Ms Sinopoli said she had a great team and loyal clients she knew would return as soon as their doors opened.

Now they were back in business, she said she was hoping to one day open more salons in other suburbs and train her existing staff to manage them.

“I’d love to have a Curl Up N Dye in every suburb, definitely in the future I’d like to open another one,” Ms Sinopoli said.

Speaking to the Leader before the winner was announced, she said she was grateful for her clients’ recognition and any nominations or votes she’d received.

“It just makes all those hard times, all those business hard times, worth it,” Ms Sinopoli said.
