A factory and a unit have gone up in flames in separate suspicious blazes in Melbourne overnight.

Emergency services were called to Sunshine North around 4am on Tuesday after reports of a factory fire.

On arrival, firefighters found smoke billowing from a roller door of a factory on Annastasia Way.

After forcing their way in, firefighters contained the blaze to the roof by removing large plaster sheets to get to the seat of the fire.

The blaze was bought under control at 4.55am, nearly an hour after crews first arrived on scene.

This comes after emergency services were called to Clayton South around 9.40pm on Monday after reports of a residential unit fire.

Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a single-storey brick unit on Clayton Rd that threatened to spread to neighbouring properties.

The blaze was bought under control within 30 minutes.

No-one was inside the unit at the time of the incident.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said two crime scenes have been established.

The exact circumstances surrounding both fires are yet to be determined but they are being treated as suspicious.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
