Cranbourne West: Police allegedly find machete in alleged stolen car after EastLink chase

Two men were allegedly found hiding in a roof space in Cranbourne West after a wild police chase on EastLink.

Two men have been found hiding in a roof space after a police chase involving a stolen car that reached speeds of up to 150km/h on EastLink travelling in the wrong direction.

The allegedly stolen Hyundai was spotted at 10.30am in Dandenong, heading towards Frankston on Monday.

The Police Air Wing tracked the vehicle as it sped the wrong way, forcing frightened motorists to swerve out of the way along EastLink on Monday morning.

The Hyundai was found at Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre carpark, with the two men allegedly fleeing the scene in a silver Mazda.

Police tracked the Mazda to a property in Monahans Rd in Cranbourne West, where the two men were found hiding in a roof space.

During a search of the Hyundai, police allegedly found a machete.

The Hyundai was allegedly stolen from Gilford Grove in Cheltenham on Saturday, April 2 around 10.50pm.

Both men are assisting police with their inquiries.
