Altona North: Machete-wielding man allegedly chased victim in alleged road rage attack

A driver has been arrested after allegedly wielding a machete during a road rage attack in Melbourne’s west.

A Mount Duneed man has been arrested after an alleged violent road rage incident in Altona North on Wednesday night.

Police say he rammed a vehicle at about 9.30pm on January 26, before following the vehicle into a shopping centre car park and arming himself with a machete.

It’s alleged he confronted the male driver of the other vehicle, chasing him through the carpark before the alleged victim could seek refuge in his car.

A Victoria Police spokesman said police were rushed to the scene after reports of an armed man damaging a car.

He was arrested shortly after inside a supermarket nearby.

The 31-year-old Mount Duneed man was charged with affray, conduct endangering serious injury, assault and weapons offences.

He was granted bail and will return to the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on August 15.
