Monash Tigers had Northcote on toast only to be left burnt by its own batting collapse in their Premier Cricket clash on Saturday.
Marcus Berryman crashed through the Dragons line-up with three wickets, including the scalp of in-form opener Mark Phelan, to have the visitors in trouble at 6-92.

But a 93-run stand for the seventh wicket between Jonty Rushton and captain Blayde Baker lifted Northcote to a competitive 227 at Central Reserve.
Rushton took the game on with a better than run-a-ball 65, while Baker finished unbeaten on 37.
Tigers top three Adam Amin (13), Daniel Sartori (16) and Scott Edwards (18) each departed after making a start as Monash collapsed to 6-62.
Unlike Northcote, Monash could not recover, dismissed for 141 in the 41st over to leave it with a 3-1-4 record.
“Credit to them, they had some good partnerships along the way and fought out the back end of their innings really well and obviously got to a very defendable score,” Sartori said.
“I think at the start of our innings, the game was certainly 50-50, if not we probably felt like they were probably unders with their score.
“Once again, unfortunately our top order wasn’t able to get the job done, myself included.”
Sartori said his batsmen were left to rue poor shot selection.
“They bowled well but I’d more have to say its batters who have to take the responsibility on themselves,” he said.
“We weren’t able to do that, myself included. I played a poor shot to get out, which was disappointing looking back on it.
“Probably as a batting group we’re relying on one or two blokes, mainly Scotty Edwards this season, and unfortunately he wasn’t able to get a big score.”
Monash will host Melbourne University at Central Reserve in a two-day game starting on Saturday.
