The latest rounds of Victorian Premier Cricket — men’s and women’s — had it all. We’ve selected our teams of the week:
MEN
1. Dan Scholz (Richmond)
The Montrose product blitzed his way to an unbeaten 137 — his maiden Premier century. After rushing to 50 in just 36 balls, Scholz kept going and steered the Tigers to a resounding victory, packing 16 fours and 1 six into his 148-ball stay.
2. Brett Forsyth (Dandenong)
The Dandenong champion produced his 24th Victorian Premier Cricket ton with a stunning 132 in the Panthers’ successful run chase. Forsyth struck 12 fours and two sixes in his fourth century against Frankston Peninsula.
3. Tom Scott (Camberwell Magpies)
The classy left hander fell agonisingly short of his second Premier century when caught behind for 99. He combined deft touch and power in a fine knock.
4. Dhanusha Gamage (Dandenong)
Gamage passed 50 for the sixth time in just his 13th Premier Cricket appearance. His 94 was just shy of a third ton but he helped guide Dandenong to a six-wicket win.
5. Josh Manning (Kingston Hawthorn)
The Hawks captain celebrated the birth of his second child with a match-winning unbeaten 112 off 223 balls after going in at 2-17. The left hander brought up his ton with a six.
6. Lachie Field (Geelong)
What a start to the season! The 23-year-old scored back-to-back centuries, 105no, to set up Geelong’s monster total of 366. It followed his opening round knock of 105. A star on the rise.
7. Josh McDonald (Geelong)
McDonald peeled off 104 off 130 balls (12 fours and 3 sixes) and shared a 192-run partnership for the fifth wicket with fellow centurion Lachie Field.
8. Adam Crosthwaite (St Kilda)
The veteran crunched a timely 74no before taking five dismissals with the gloves in the second innings.
9. Peter Hatzoglou (Melbourne University)
The Big Bash spinner showed he’s more than capable with the bat, smacking 7 sixes in a blazing knock of 94no — his highest score in Premier Cricket.
10. David Moody (Melbourne)
Moody snared 5-29 to roll through Essendon in the first innings and followed it up with 2-16 in the second innings. The former West Australian paceman went at a tidy two runs per over across the two innings.
11. Justin Beaton (Ringwood)
It was a dream debut for the young Ram. Beaton 5-46 off 18 overs in his side’s draw with Casey South Melbourne.
12. Michael Archer (Carlton)
Archer spun the Blues to victory over Prahran in a marathon 29-over spell. He collected 4-68 to earn high praise of his teammates.
WOMEN
1. Yashoda Senarathne (Box Hill)
The gun Mustang chalked up 34 off 39 balls and 54 off 44 in a run-filled afternoon. She top scored in both of Box Hill’s matches.
2. Makinley Blows (Essendon Maribyrnong Park)
Blows makes yet another Team of the Week after she carved an unbeaten 65 from only 54 balls. It’s her second half century as another big summer looms.
3. Cailin Green (Carlton)
The girl from Bendigo had a big game against Box Hill, taking 4-15 and making 25 at the top of the list. She also took 2-14 in the Blues’ Round 5 victory.
4 Rhiann O’Donnell (Melbourne)
The star all-rounder nabbed 2-21 and then cracked 40no off 36 to fire the Demons to victory against Dandenong.
5 Samara Dulvin (Ringwood)
Peeled off 44no off 37 to steer Ringwood home against Prahran and also made 32 in Round 5.
6. Una Raymond-Hoey (Ringwood)
Ringwood’s captain motored to 41no off just 32 deliveries in the Rams’ win over Prahran. It followed her rapid 29 against EMP last week.
7. Erica Kershaw (Carlton)
The Blues captain was on song, blasting 42 off 25 to set up victory over Ringwood in Round 5.
8. Navleen Sandhu (Dandenong)
Sandhu guided Dandenong to its six-wicket win over Plenty Valley with a controlled 36no from 39 balls. She also claimed two sharp stumpings in the first innings.
9. Ishita Tiwari (Dandenong)
Tiwari blasted 54no from only 29 balls from No. 6 in the Panthers’ win over Plenty Valley. She smashed eight fours and one six in her entertaining stay at the crease.
10. Emilia Wilson (Box Hill)
The Wales import took 3-8 and also made 6no off four balls to set up Box Hill’s win over Carlton in Round 4.
11 Zoe Griffiths (Box Hill)
The ever consistent Box Hill opener was in the runs and wickets over the weekend, including making 36no and taking 2-21 in a win.
12 Ella Hayward (Melbourne)
Cracked four boundaries in a vital knock of 36 off 28 to hep the Demons’ to a crucial win in Round 5.
