The family of a cyclist tragically killed in a hit-run crash at Hampton Park has urged his killer to come forward.

Sole Manapori, 58, died after he was struck by a car while riding a bike near the intersection of Hallam and Pound roads about 4.30am on Thursday.

The driver of the car failed to stop after hitting Sole and left in what police believe was a red 2010 Holden Cruze sedan.

Police said the car was allegedly stolen from Doncaster on the morning of January 5.

A secondary crime scene was established after the stolen car was found burnt out in Glen Waverley about 5am on Thursday.

Sole’s great niece Mauranga Pita urged his killer to come forward.

“You have left our family in pain and suffering from such a tragic loss,” she said.

“We want justice for Sole.”

Cousin Meteka Tumu said the driver needed to own up to the coward act.

“You took a lovely person, a lovely soul, away from the family,” he said.

“The family is missing their Papa already.”

Ms Pita said Sole was on the way to work at Yumi’s Quality Food when the tragedy happened.

“He was an amazing person who was so full of life and enjoyed going to work,” she said.

“He loved his job and spoke so highly of it.”

Sole was born in Cook Islands and arrived in Melbourne in 2014.

“He was loved by many and was very cared about in the community,” Ms Pita said.

“He loved his great grand niece and nephews who he spoiled with love and gave them whatever he could.”

Vainiu Manapori Leasi said she was shocked to hear about her cousin’s death.

“He was a happy person with a big heart,” she said.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the hit-run and urge anyone with information to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
