Teenager Jordan Williams high on synthetic ice during crime spree

A MAGISTRATE has warned a teen who went on a crime spree high on fake ice to stop putting that “crap” in his face or he’ll go to jail.

What happens in a criminal trial?

A THIEVING teenager high on synthetic ice has been told by a magistrate to stop putting “that crap” in his body or face jail.

Over the last few months the 19-year-old has burgled, stolen from cars and tried to use nicked credit cards, all while under the influence of fake methamphetamine.

Jordan Williams pleaded guilty to a series of theft-related charges at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court earlier this week.

His sentence was deferred so he can get help for his drug use, which also includes an addiction to cannabis.

The court heard Williams and a mate broke into a parked vehicle in Endeavour Hills on May 20, stealing a range of power tools.

Over the next few days he went to several pawn brokers and hocked the gear for money.

Later he would tell officers he “did a toolbox run, and then sold them for $300 at ‘Cashies’ (Cash Converters)”.

Police searched his Doveton house on June 1, finding a Holden vehicle, a motorbike, laptop, phones and cards, all believed stolen.

Over the next few months he nabbed a pushbike from Cranbourne, broke into cars in Doveton and tried to use stolen credit cards to buy goods from shops in Endeavour Hills and Fountain Gate.

Then on November 6 he burgled over $3000 worth of tools and a motorbike from a Doveton garage.

But when he tried to wheel the bike away, a witness and the owner confronted him and held him until police arrived.

In court his lawyer said Williams, who had been homeless and was stealing as he needed money for food and clothing, had started to get help for his longstanding drug habits.

Magistrate Pauline Spencer said he should have gone to welfare agencies for food, accommodation and drug support.

“(If) you put a whole lot of crap in your body, you’re going to do a lot of stupid stuff; you’ll end up in jail,” Ms Spencer said.

“There is a clear link (between ice use and offending); you keep taking that stuff you will end up with psychosis.”

She said she wanted to see if he could get the drug help he needed and deferred sentencing until next month.
