What a boost for Peninsula Old Boys.
The Pirates have confirmed they have regained their talented premiership all-rounder Will Crowder from Frankston Peninsula for the 2019-20 MPCA Provincial season.
Crowder was a shining light for the Heat last season, scoring 193 runs (at 32) and taking 11 wickets with his off-spin in 11 games.
“We are rapt to have him back,” Peninsula Old Boys coach John Forrest said.
“He will be batting in our top five and no doubt be bowling a lot of overs.”
Peninsula Old Boys, who lost to Sorrento in a semi-final last season, has also regained Callum Savio (returning from Perth) and Justin Parkes (returning from a few years off).
Forrest said the Pirates looked like having at least six players in their firsts who were a product of their junior club.
He said Crowder, 24, would provide vital experience.
“He’s got great energy and will add a lot of experience to the group because of the level he’s been exposed to,” Forrest said.
“He’s just what we needed with our young emerging group.”
Wade Pelzer will skipper the Pirates again, while two-time Provincial 1st XI premiership captain Glenn Prendergast will captain the club’s 2nd X1 with a focus of developing the youth of the club.
